Where are you going?
I don’t mean at this very moment, in the physical sense — though you may be reading this while walking and looking at your phone. If that is the case, stop and read this later! Let’s not have any street accidents on my account, please.
At the beginning of 2014, many of us made goals — some of us made goals at the end of 2013 just to get ahead of the game, as it were. It is now nearly the end of 2014 and I want to ask yourself — of your goals for the year, what did you accomplish?
Of all that you did not fully accomplish, did you make strides towards accomplishing them or did you not get any closer to completing them than you were at the start of the year?
The key, I have found, is to have a mindset of always moving forward. Much like a shark, if you do not move forward a bit each day in some way you will sputter and eventually fall short of your goal. Days become weeks and it becomes harder to move forward toward accomplishing our goals.
I would like to strongly recommend taking an entirely free e-course taught by life coach and all around awesome person, Chalene Johnson. Called 30 Day Push, it helps to get you into a mindset of organizing your day intelligently and getting something done every day to move you forward toward accomplishing your goals.
At the end of the day, it is easy to look back and think of everything that we have done — all of the e-mails that were answered, all of the memos that were written, and all of the candy that was crushed. Yet it is not necessarily having a full day that is important at the end of the day — but doing things that move us forward.
What are you going to do today to help you move forward? Of course, if you do not have actual larger life goals toward which you are moving forward — we have to have another discussion. Another discussion for another time.
Always move forward!
